The nation's top-rated program got back to basics for its fourth season. The personal lives of the Las Vegas crime scene investigators would take more of a backseat to the stories themselves: the victims, the cases, the criminals. After a successful operation, William Peterson's Gil Grissom has regained his hearing--and his Manhunter-era beard--and is back in fighting form. "You're like your old self," Captain Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) notes in "All for Our Country." Just in time, as he'll soon be promoting one of his staff to lead CSI, and it's between Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox) and Nick Stokes (George Eads). He also has a new politically minded sheriff with which to contend, Rory Atwater (24's Xander Berkeley). The latter will make his first of several appearances in "Invisible Evidence," while the results of Grissom's lead CSI decision will be revealed in "No More Bets."

That said, one CSI will enjoy a bit of a personal life this season--Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger), who'll begin seeing nightclub owner Chris Bezich (Nicholas Lea, Krycek from The X-Files) in "Early Rollout." The other CSIs, particularly the re-energized Grissom, will remain as married to their jobs as ever--although the latter's unspoken interest in Sara will be tested in "Butterflied."

Other episodes of note include "Feeling the Heat," with Stacy Edwards and Arye Gross, "Jackpot," with Henry Czerny and Re-Animator's Jeffrey Combs, and the instantly infamous "Fur and Loathing," which was written by Jerry Stahl (Permanent Midnight) and centers on the death of a "furry." As Grissom explains to Willows, "furries" are a "tribe of people who prefer to interact as furry animals." Stahl also penned "Getting Off," about the death of a clown, and continues to come up with some of this still-groundbreaking series' most colorful scenarios. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

One of the the best and most popular dramas on TV, CSI is often intense and chilling. The scenes showing the laboratory work are fascinating. Excellent portrayal of team dynamics with people alternately working together and competing against each other.

Here is an episode guide, with a tiny description:
    1. Assume Nothing (Part 1): After two couples meet in a bar, one couple is killed. When it happens again, the CSI team suspects serial killers.
    2. All for Our Country (Part 2): The lead suspects are killed and Grissom suspects it may have been a cop.
    3. Homebodies: An old woman is found mummified. A teen is raped.
    4. Feeling the Heat: A triple digit heat wave brings cases of a baby locked in a car, heat stroke, and a woman floating in a lake.
    5. Fur and Loathing: A man is found dead dressed in a raccoon suit. A gunshot victim is found frozen in a deep-freezer.
    6. Jackpot: A severed head is shipped to Dr. Robbins. Grissom goes... Read more

A great show with a great cast. The Las Vegas Crime Lab are the characters on this show, backed up here and there by the LVPD.

The third season ended with Gil Grissom (the main character) going in for ear surgery. He had been losing his hearing for some time, his mother had went deaf, and he would too if he didn't get this operation. On the first episode on this set, Grissom lets his co-worker Catherine know that her cell phone is vibrating. She says, "You can hear that? You're back."

Also on the first episode of this set, the character Nick Stokes tells a guy, who he knew long ago - who recognizes him now, about some specifics on the case they're working on. We find out that guy leaked the info to the press - which creates a problem between Grissom and Nick.

Another problem in the storylines is concerning the character Sara Sidel, who shows early on in this set, that she's mad at Grissom. Late in season three, she asked him out - and he... Read more

CSI goes into Season 4 with a huge following and a rapidly growing fan base. The show was pretty much unable to be faulted by this season. The episodes involved are top notch, and I sure as hell will be able to watch them over and over again, as I am sure you all will be. This DVD will be a MUST OWN, even if you have never watched the ashow before. Perfection, ladies and gentlemen.
